What are the precautions for TVS devices?

release time:2022-11-12Author source:slkor-ganBrowse:767

    1. Regarding the relationship between the peak value of absorbed power of transient voltage and the pulse width of transient voltage, the manual only gives the peak value of absorbed power under a specific pulse width, while the pulse width in the actual line is unpredictable. Wide pulse should be used with derating;

    2. For the protection of small current loads, a current-limiting resistor can be added to the circuit consciously. As long as the resistance of the current-limiting resistor is appropriate, it will not affect the normal operation of the line, but the current generated by the current-limiting resistor will greatly reduce the interference. It is possible to use a TVS tube with a smaller peak power to protect the small current load circuit;

    3. To suppress the recurring transient voltage, pay attention to whether the steady-state average power of the TVS tube is within the safe range;

    4. Use with derating when the ambient temperature rises, the length of the lead of the TVS tube, and the relative distance between it and the protected line.
