Using multiple modules in parallel can significantly reduce costs. The greater the general current, the higher the IGBT price, the less suppliers to choose from, the price remains high. On the contrary, the low current IGBT manufacturers are many, the mass production time is long, the price is low.
Second: avoid exclusive suppliers or increase procurement channels.
Third: Compatible with IGBT: the drive may not support stable operation at high power, or the developer is accustomed to using mature products. Mature drivers and IGBT vendors will provide more technical support.
Fourth: Parallel technology has become a development trend. The use of parallel technology (not just IGBT) allows products to be smaller, have higher power density, and are prone to more patented technologies in the development process.
Fifth: the development of more than 2MW stand-alone inverter can not find such a large IGBT, can only choose parallel technology. Finally, as a parallel technology developer, I have a great sense of accomplishment because parallel technology has some problems, such as static and dynamic flow, radiation interference and so on. Every time a problem is solved, the achievements in personnel are very considerable. Overall, the main reasons are the cost reduction of parallel connection and high power consumption.
